With certain hesitance I purchased one purple for my daughter's 1005HA and one clear for my wife's 1005PE as only two reviews on mcover for 1005HA/PE were not very positive with complaint focusing on its bottom covers. Well I cannot comment on what kind of product others received but I am surely happy with my purchase. I also kind of wonder if others followed installation instruction correctly since there is a specific installation instruction attached to bottom cover. When I installed these two bottom covers I read the instruction carefully and followed that exactly. Well the instruction was simple enough with common sense saying basically to snap back side first then front side without using strong force. As an engineer it has always been my habit to read instruction first anyway. So anyway for me these bottom covers fit both versions perfectly without any issues. There was no issue with the top cover either: once it snaps in, it fits with the computer tightly. Another point I would like to comment is that both my daughter and wife love the retractable feet at the bottom cover which provides better typing position. Definitely I would give 5 thumb for the mcover.

Maybe my brain functions better after the clock strikes midnight, but whatever the reason, I was finally able to get this clear polycarbonate cover onto my week-old ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU17-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 14 Hours of Battery Life. Amazon shipped the case out and I got it about a week after I placed the order, with FREE Super Saver Shipping.
I tried for over an hour to get bottom half of the shell on as soon as I received it, to absolutely no avail. So after the struggle, I decided that I would have to try again later, after my frustration wore off. Tried this and it still didn't get on, though the top half fit like a charm. After a day of deliberations, I decided that I would return it and printed out the RMA from Amazon. This I did and had it in mind to go to the post office to ship the package to Amazon today (well really yesterday, since it's after 12:00AM). My headache saved me, because I didn't go. Just a few minutes ago, I thought I'd give it another go before heading to the P.O. tomorrow morning.
Well, well, well, wouldn't you know?? The short instruction tells you to install the bottom by snapping in place the back side first. Well, I tried this, but could not get the tabs to line up because of the rubber feet's position. Then I concluded that this case must be for the 1005HA only, because according to Amazon's description, the height is 1 inch, whereas the 1005PE (both MU17 and PU17) has a height of 1.4 inch. Then I started Googling the dimensions of the 1005HA and read that it ranges from 1 to 1.44. And on the iPearl site, they clearly state that this cover is compatible with both the 1005PE MU-17 and 1005PE PU-17. So my faith was restored and I set about trying to get the tabs to line up with the hinges again. It just seemed impossible. Then! Then it dawned onto me to line up the corners and with light pressure, push down where the snap-in tabs were supposed to go. Light pressure, folks. This did the trick. They both snapped into place and all I had to do was snap the front side of the bottom cover and voila! Top shell still easy the second time around. This will work for those of you with the 1005PE, trust me!

Bought this CLEAR mCover® case for my Asus 1005PE netbook. It is a great buy for any Asus 1005PE owner who wants the netbook protected against scratches.

We bought the ASUS 1005PE-PU17 and decided on buying the mCover Black case as well after reading the more positive reviews. The case arrived before the netbook. I opened the packet after the netbook arrived. Unfortunately, when I opened the envelope, there were no instructions with the mCover - just a pamphlet advertising the various covers the company sells. I tried fitting it by following the instructions in the other reviews here. The right rear tab on the back cover clicked into place easily while the left rear tab wouldn't. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the tab was bent inwards as a result of which there was nothing there to click into place. I think I received a defective cover and am now taking steps to exchanging it. I'd prefer an exchange instead of another product because of the reviews. Lets hope the next one works like a charm.
UPDATE:
I got the refund on the earlier product and ordered another one. Amazon customer service was awesome - they refunded the shipping charges (as the order was below $25). I received the product in a couple of days and it fits like a glove. I absolutely love it !!!

I received my hardshell case and was expecting it to be harder to put on based on the reviews I read. However, I found it helpful that others passed on their ease of putting it on. I had no trouble at all. It went on just fine. I like the clear as I can see the lovely royal blue color of my netbook! The feet that hold up my computer are not that sturdy but they seem to work fine. I am pleased with this product. I feel like my computer is protected.
